While attending the CSAC meeting in Alameda County, I learned about a fascinating concept (Templosion) that Erica Orange, Executive Vice President & COO of The Future Hunters presented.  Templosion encapsulates the accelerated implosion of time into smaller increments, leading to quicker and more profound changes in our lives.

The Impact of Templosion: Templosion reflects the swift pace at which significant events are shaping our lives. Major milestones are unfolding at an unprecedented speed, challenging us to adapt to a rapidly evolving landscape. The shelf life of our knowledge is shorter than ever before, requiring us to adopt a mindset of continuous learning and adaptability.

AI and Augmented Intelligence: A Collaborative Future: A significant topic of discussion was the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Intelligence. The conversation shifted from a competitive mindset to one of collaboration between humans and machines. Projections indicate that 85 million jobs will be lost due to AI… And that AI will create 97 million new jobs, emphasizing the shift towards more value-added roles for humans.

Generative AI: Harnessing Innovation Responsibly: Generative AI emerged as a pivotal player, showcasing its potential in learning, adaptation, and reality-driven insights. From forecasts and budgets to county/local intelligence, Generative AI offers strategic insights and the ability to detect anomalies, freeing up time for more value-added work. However, it is essential to address associated risks, particularly in the realm of cybersecurity.

Intelligence, Smartness, and Intuition: A Balanced Approach: The meeting explored the nuanced relationship between intelligence, smartness, and intuition. In an era defined by Templosion, combining human intuition with intelligent technologies becomes essential for informed decision-making.

Time, Trust, and Truth: Navigating Challenges: Temporal challenges are intertwined with issues of trust and truth. The concept of “truth decay” and “trust decay” was discussed, emphasizing the importance of ethics, fairness, transparency, honesty, integrity, trusted relationships, and judgment. The rise of synthetic media and histories poses challenges that demand our collective vigilance. More than ever, we need to dig a little deeper to ensure that what we are reading/seeing is based on facts versus manufactured “truths.”

Preparing for the Future: A Strategic Approach: As we grapple with Templosion and its associated challenges, the meeting offered practical advice on how to prepare and move forward. From seeking guidance from Gen Z mentors to exposing ourselves to ideas outside our comfort zones, the call to be willing to learn and willing to forget underscores the need for continuous growth.

As we navigate this era of Templosion, we will need to embrace change with open minds and collaborative spirits. The future demands adaptability, and together, we can forge a path forward that aligns with our values and ensures the well-being of our communities.
