Lewiston District 1 Candidates Night 2026: Correction and Apology

Earlier this week, I posted a summary of the Lewiston District 1 Candidates Night. That summary was based on a summary generated by an AI tool (NotebookLM) from the event transcript. I then shared the summary report and the event recording link on social media. The same information was also shared via a community email list.

Both candidates have since told me the summary contained inaccuracies — statements and positions attributed to them that did not reflect what they actually said at the forum. Based on their feedback, I have removed the summary.

To Zach Sullivan and Scott White: I’m sorry. You came to share your views with the community, and I published a version of them that wasn’t accurate. I should have checked the summary against the source — and with you — before posting it, and I should not have relied on an AI tool for something this consequential without first taking those steps.

To everyone who read or shared the summary in good faith, my apologies as well. You deserved accurate information about the people asking for your vote, and I didn’t deliver it.

The video of the forum is the accurate source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWwZXL5ddxs.

For the candidates’ positions in their own words, please see https://www.zachdistrict1.com/ and https://foryoudist1.com/, or contact their campaigns directly.

I’ll continue sharing the notes I take during board meetings that I attend, as I have since taking office. I will not publish AI-generated summaries of events I didn’t attend.
